A month ago he defended Putin, today Gerard Depardieu says: Stop the fire and negotiate

Russia and Ukraine have always been brotherly countries – in an interview with AFP Gérard Depardieu. Addressing Russia’s rulers, that is, de facto, Putin, he added:

I am against this fratricidal war. I say: hold your fire and negotiate.

Earlier, Depardieu repeatedly praised Putin and Russia

In December 2012, Depardieu decided to become a Belgian. He applied for citizenship after the French government introduced a 75% tax for the richest. A few days later, Russian President Vladimir Putin offered the actor Russian citizenship, and Depardieu accepted the offer. On January 5, 2013, in Sochi Depardieu, he received a Russian passport from Putin. After dinner with the Russian president, he said:

I will say what I think about Putin: the Russian people need such a man – with Russian temperament. Putin is trying to restore their dignity to his people.

In August 2014, in Latvia, he said: I love Russia and Ukraine, which is part of Russia. For two years, the actor lived in an apartment he bought in Saransk, but in 2015 he said: I am a French who will pay taxes in Belgium.

A month ago, he posted a photo praising Putin on Instagram, and on French TV he said: Leave Putin alone.

Depardiueu has been banned from entering Ukraine since 2015, as are e.g. Emir Kusturic, who on the same day Russia attacked Ukraine as part of the alleged protection of the separatist republics of Donetsk and Lugansk.

The Russian war against Ukraine continues. There is information about houses destroyed, wounded and killed. Needs are increasing hour by hour. That is why Gazeta.pl joins forces with the Polish Center for International Aid (PCPM) Foundation to support humanitarian aid for Ukrainians and Ukrainians.
