Lyudmila Alexandrovna was born on January 6, 1958 in Kaliningrad to a working-class family. As a teenager, she dreamed of becoming an actress. However, after graduating from high school, she did not pass the exam to the Leningrad Theater Institute, and therefore gave up these plans. In later years, she was, among others, a nurse and a postwoman.
Lyudmila also worked as a flight attendant in the Aeroflot airline. At the turn of 1979/1980 she flew to Leningrad. And it was during one of such trips that she met her future husband. To build a relationship with Vladimir, the woman moved to Leningrad. At that time, she also began studies at the faculty of Romance studies. Putin, in turn, started working in the State Security Committee of the USSR Council of Ministers. Interestingly, he introduced himself to his future wife as a policeman. He revealed the truth about his profession much later.
The couple got married in July 1983. Two years later, their first daughter, Masha, appeared in the world. When Lyudmila finished her studies, the second daughter was born – Katya. At that time, the family lived in Germany, to which Putin was sent. Strangers who came for business matters often appeared in the family’s apartment. Lyudmila recalled that during this period, Vladimir treated her not as a wife, but as a waitress serving the table.

Apparently Lyudmila did not like the role of the first lady. Her husband’s absence from home and the media attention also disturbed her. Over time, their relationship began to experience a serious crisis. Vladimir and Lyudmila stopped appearing in public together in 2009. In the same year it turned out that Putin would once again become a father. The child’s mother was a 30 years younger gymnast, Alina Kabaeva.
Lyudmila and Vladimir divorced in 2013. Apparently, the woman was the initiator of the divorce. Interestingly, Lyudmila was included in the top ten most influential women in the Forbes monthly ranking.
– It was our joint decision. The marriage is over because we hardly see each other […] Me and Lyudmila will always be close to each other – said Putin in one of the interviews.

It is known, however, that in 2016 Lyudmila married her husband again. Her chosen one was Artur Oczeretny, who was 18 years younger than her – head of the Center for Interpersonal Relations.
