This morning, Diana got a call from her mother. “She said she was awakened by the noise of the war plane. It was terrible. My dad was in the countryside with his grandmother at the time. There, too, they heard the explosions that took place at a small local airport and in a military shelter.

Anna Sukhar came to Poland in 2014 to study. He has been living in our country since then. – I think it is difficult to predict such phenomena as war. It is known that due to the events in Ukraine a few days ago, there were some skeptical moods among the people, but deep down every Ukrainian believed that it could be avoided and the conflict could be resolved in a peaceful way – says Anna.

The entire family of our interlocutor is currently in Ukraine.

We have a fairly close relationship, we call or write to each other every day. Nowadays, people there are scared, panic and fear of the unknown are taking over. I, in turn, try to control my emotions and stay calm as much as possible and also be supportive for those who need it

Roman: I think the West and NATO will help us

Roman (name for the editor’s attention) is a cook in one of the restaurants in Tricity. He has lived in Poland for almost 6 years. He moved to find a better job. – There were very poor prospects in Ukraine. I left my wife and child for a while to build a future for us in Poland. After 1.5 years, I was able to bring them together – he says. However, his parents-in-law and mother remained there. – Already in the morning I got a message from my mother that the Russians started bombing and she is very afraid. He lives close to the borders of Donetsk and Lugansk, but does not want to leave his home yet. She said it would be safer to wait through this chaos in the apartment – reports Roman.

Our interlocutor is concerned that Donets and Luhansk will face a similar fate as the Crimea. – My sister lives in Crimea, she has her apartment there. Eight years ago, she was given a “choice”: either she leaves and leaves everything, or takes Russian citizenship and stays at her home with her work. She chose the latter option. This situation may repeat itself. Like occupied Crimea, Putin will win two more districts. Everyone is afraid that it will take Kiev as well, that it will take over half the country, says Roman.

In his opinion, Putin was prepared for economic sanctions and is not afraid of them. – He is such a man that he had to think everything through beforehand. This is the second Hitler. I think the West and NATO will help us. Ukraine is not strong enough and does not have enough weapons to repel the attack. I am glad that Poland is taking care of and wants to accept refugees. This is a great help. But I think that only united we can stop Putin, he admits.
