War for Ukraine. Actors, artists and journalists react: We are with you! We, Poles, know what war and the Soviet occupation are

On February 24, 2022 at 4:00 a.m. Polish time, the Russian invasion of Ukraine began. Vladimir Putin announced the start of a “military operation” and called on Ukrainian soldiers to lay down their arms. In the first hours, rocket firing was carried out around e.g. Kiev, Odessa and Kharkiv. The situation is developing very dynamically: we are constantly running on the home page

War for Ukraine. Artists react: We are with you!

The writer comments briefly and bluntly on the attack of Russian troops on Ukraine: “Anger, fear, rage, but also a sense of unity and solidarity”. At the same time, he notes that “every publicly expressed defeatism, including the one concerning NATO / Poland relations, is a water mill” by Vladimir Putin. He also adds that he strongly believes that recent events are also “fatal twitching of the bastard thug”.

“Ukrainian brothers, we are with you! We, Poles, know what war and the Soviet occupation are. NEVER MORE WAR !!!” – provides actress Magorzata Kouchowska and appeals:

Ukraine, you are not alone! Tears of disbelief that this is happening! NO to Putin’s sick ambitions and imperialist aspirations! I hope that Europe and the whole world will be strong and brave in response to this armed aggression!

At the beginning of the week, Weronika Marczuk, Polish journalist, film producer, actress, writer and social activist of Ukrainian origin, emphasized in an interview for the weekly “Wprost” that the conflict in Ukraine “is not just our war”. On Thursday, she shared photos of the burning Kharkiv. “God help Ukraine, people, let us all. (…) Bombing is everywhere, martial law has already been introduced, tanks are coming in from Belarus and Russia and Crimea … Kharkiv in the photo. Stop, please, no destroy lives, although don’t hurt people “- he appeals.

Actor Tomasz Kot and journalist Michał Figurski simply shared a map of Europe where Russia is marked in red, and other countries – including Ukraine – are described in the following tone: “It’s not Russia”, “It’s also not Russia”, “Sea Black is also not Russia “,” The Baltic Sea, not Russia “,” No “,” Still not Russia “.

Janusz Chabior describes – “War is the biggest shit. I sit in front of the TV and watch bombs explode. People die. Nightmare. Be brave.”

Monika Olejnik said briefly about her support: “Beloved, be strong! We are with you. Russia will not defeat you and us !!! Russians, be with us – not with Putin!” with the slogan “We are with you” and emphasizes:

I think (with pain) that the 1939 analogies are valid. The attack on Ukraine is an attack on the entire Western world and its values. The West must stop Putin.

In turn, the journalist Martyna Wojciechowska writes: “This morning we woke up in a completely different world […]. I am observing with great concern what is happening with our neighbors and I hope that all European countries will rise to the occasion, beyond divisions and engage in real aid to Ukraine. “

What can we do? First of all, today, more than ever, let us respect and support Ukrainian immigrants in our country. Let us give them a feeling of home and that they are welcome here. If you can help, help.

How can Ukraine be helped? Polish organizations dealing with international aid are already collecting funds to support Ukrainians. For more information, see this text:
