Meet Mark Rausch, the brother of chef Jorge Rausch from Masterchef Ecuador: Passionate about gourmet pastry

Mark Rausch is a pastry chef at Rausch-Groupand brother of Jorge, who triumphs in the famous Masterchef cooking show.

Mark is Colombian, he was born in Bogotá and defines himself as a simple, humble and generous person, yes, always being passionate in everything he does, because for him determination is a fundamental piece in his life.

In an interview with the newspaper El Espectador, Mark says that he always knew what he wanted in life and that it was related to cooking:

When I was graduating from high school they asked us how we saw ourselves in the future and my answer was that I wanted to be the general manager of Kraft, in Colombia. So, I studied hotel administration at the Externado University and when I graduated I did an internship with Harry Sasson for eight months.

Being in that place, Mark looked for a way to fulfill his dream of studying cooking abroad.

The beginnings in the kitchen of Jorge Rausch’s brother

Mark Rausch started out working as a kitchen cleaner, as a dishwasher, but that didn’t stop him and he passed every test along the way to reach his goal. And boy did he do it!

He worked in prestigious restaurants such as Morrissey’s, Aqua Riva, Laci’s and the Delta Pinnacle Hotel, together with renowned chef Jean Pierre Sánchez.

His training at the Pacific Institute of Culinary Arts in Canada helped him gradually achieve his goals.

Throughout his professional career, his work in several television programs is added, including as a special guest in several episodes of MasterChef, where his brother Jorge is.

Recognitions and professional life of Mark Rausch

Mark was recognized by La Barra magazine over the years. In 2009, 2011 and 2012, his Rausch Patissier restaurant won the award for the “Best Pastry Proposal”, and in 2008 and 2019 he was positioned as the best pastry chef in Colombia.

He also starred with his brother in the realities “Cooks to the Limit”, “Brothers in the Kitchen” and “The Rausch Brothers”.

Mark has also taught live classes for universities, schools and companies in the culinary industry. In addition to being the current Ambassador of Caquetá Cheese and Orange Ambassador of the Denominations of Origin for the Superintendency of Industry and Commerce in Colombia. (AND)
