Cruz Beckham, the 17-year-old son of David Beckham and Victoria Beckham, appears on the cover of the Spring 2022 ‘Out Of Body’ issue of i-Dmarking the teen’s solo magazine cover debut.
The image, taken by photographer Steven Klein, shows Cruz sporting pink hair while sitting in boxer briefs and a pulled-down pair of Balenciaga jeans. He also wears silver jewelry and sports a couple of tattoos: a butterfly above his knee and writing on his ribcage.
According to the magazine, the cover pays tribute to David, whom designer Tommy Hilfiger once dubbed the “underwear model of the century.” Over the years, the 46-year-old tattooed soccer star has appeared in boxer shorts in numerous ad campaigns, including for Tommy, Emporio Armani and his own H&M David Beckham Bodywear collection, as well as on the cover of magazine Sand Homme2000+ showing him in a Cruz-like pose.
Both David and Victoria praised Cruz for her cover of i-D, which was released on February 21, one day after his 17th birthday.
“So cool,” his dad wrote as he reposted photos from his son’s photo shoot on his Instagram, adding that he was “such a proud dad.”
Victoria, 47, wrote on her own page, along with the iD cover and another magazine photo of Cruz: “Great first day at 17! @cruzbeckham to @i_d, so proud.”
Cruz is the couple’s youngest child and the second of their four children. The Spice Girl and the former LA Galaxy player have other children: they share Brooklyn (22 years old), Romeo (19) and their daughter Harper (10). The family appeared together on the cover of Vogue, October 2018 issue.
In the interview accompanying i-DCruz talks about the time he spent recording in the studio, learning to play the mandolin, and his sonic obsessions as he moves into adult life and his ambitions to become a musical artist, according to iD.
The aspiring musician tells the magazine, “I don’t think you ever stop learning, but I’m taking my time to see what happens.”
The magazine also released a behind-the-scenes video in which Cruz shares her favorite musical artists, including Frank Ocean and Billie Eilish, whose face decorated her themed birthday cake during her family’s recent birthday celebration. “I love her music, I love her style, and I would love to go on a date with her,” she told iD. “So, Billie, you know where I am.”
Cruz’s magazine cover isn’t the first time he’s seemingly copied his father’s looks. Last year, David did a bit of Instagram trolling by sharing a recent one of him and his kids sporting some freshly bleached hairstyles. In the photo caption, he wasn’t too shy to take all the credit for his kids’ edgy looks. “Sometimes guys need to be reminded who did it first in the 90s,” David wrote alongside the July 15 post. David also hilariously noted, “From the looks on their faces, they’re not too happy about it, #DadDidItFirst.”
