Nicola Coughlan gained international popularity thanks to her role as Penelope Featherington in Netflix’s blockbuster “Bridgerton”. The actress admitted that along with the great fame, her body also became the center of attention, and she herself became a victim of body shaming.

The Brigertons. Nicola Coughlan appeals to fans

– Hi! Only one thing, if you have an opinion about my body, please don’t share it with me – began the description under the self-published mirror selfie. “Most people are nice and don’t try to be offensive, but I’m just human and it’s really hard to take the burden of the thousands of opinions about what you look like sent directly each day,” she continued.

– If you have an opinion on me, okay, I understand that I am on TV and that people will think and talk about me, but please do not write to me directly – she appealed, overwhelmed by the opinions of other actress.

This is not the first time Coughlan has touched upon the subject of judging her through the prism of her appearance. “Every time I am asked about my body in an interview, I feel uncomfortable and sad that I can’t just talk about the work I do and love so much,” the actress once confessed.

– I am an actress who would lose or gain weight if an important role required it. My body is a tool that I use to tell stories, not what I define, she explained, emphasizing that she does not consider herself a body positive activist.
