This is the prediction of Diana of Wales about the future of the royal family that could come true

Princess Diana of Wales made a curious prediction about the future of the British royal family, during the controversial interview with Martin Bashir that she gave two years before her tragic death in 1997. Lady Di suggested that it would be Prince William and not Charles, who could ascend to the throne after the death of Queen Elizabeth II.

The data was brought to the present by royalty expert Richard Eden, through a publication on his official Twitter account.

“Would it be your wish that when Prince William comes of age, he succeeds the Queen in place of the current Prince of Wales?” Bashir asked. To which Diana replied: “I hope my husband finds peace of mind and, with that, other things follow, yes.”

The prediction of Diana of Wales

Regarding Diana’s prediction, some experts allude that the British monarch Elizabeth II (who celebrated the 70th anniversary of her accession to the throne in early February) could abdicate and leave the throne to Carlos before she died.

Elizabeth has already promised to hand over the title of queen consort to Charles’s wife, Duchess Camilla of Cornwall, once her son ascends the throne. In 2005, following her wedding to the Prince of Wales, it was announced that she would be known as the Princess Consort despite being entitled to the title of Queen.

It is also likely that William and Kate, Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, will become the new kings, as they are more popular in British society.

In a DeltaPoll poll, conducted in April 2021, it indicated that 47% of those surveyed would like to see the Duke on the throne, considering that Prince Charles is already 73 years old.

It should be noted that few monarchs have resigned from office in the history of the United Kingdom. The last to do so was Edward VIII, Elizabeth II’s uncle, in December 1936, to marry the American actress Wallis Simpson.
