The single-chamber granite sink has been quite popular recently. How is it different from a traditional sink?
Granite sinks are made of a composite material. It is a mixture, the main component of which is quartz sand, which accounts for approx. 80% of the total. The remainder is made of acrylic resin and dyes. This type of sink includes sinks made of materials such as: Granitek, pyragranite, fragranite, Cristadur, Silgranit, Metaltek and Cristalite. They differ in the percentage of quartz.
The content and quality of quartz sand in the mix, as well as the production method, affect the strength of the kitchen sink and its structure. For this reason, some granite sinks are roughened. More often, however, are the ones that are smooth to the touch, which is why they are not as difficult as it might seem.
How to clean a granite sink to make it look like new?
The first and easiest way to clean such a sink, if you clean it regularly, is dishwashing liquid. The simplest solutions are usually the best. If we wash the sink frequently, it does not require special cleaning agents. Every evening, wash the sink with a sponge and a little mild dishwashing liquid, and the granite will look like new for a long time.
Cleaning a granite sink with baking soda or vinegar may surprise you
Despite the fact that we regularly clean our granite, from time to time it is worth scrubbing it more thoroughly to remove deposits. Then it is worth using ordinary kitchen baking soda. Make a cleaning paste out of it, that is, mix baking soda with a little water. Then apply it on a sponge and clean the entire surface of the sink.
Good for scale and sediment build-up on a surface like granite is also. All you need to do is mix water with vinegar in a ratio of 1: 1 and thoroughly wash the entire sink with the prepared liquid. Wait a moment for the vinegar to work, rub it all over again, then rinse with warm water. Then wipe it with a dry cloth or paper towel.
In order for the dishwasher to really “shine” and look beautiful, we can additionally grease it with ordinary cooking oil or olive oil.
