Actor Brendan Fraser joins the cast of ‘Batgirl’. Will he play the villain?

American actor Brendan Fraser will share roles with Leslie Grace in the film Batichica (Batgirl) from DC Films and Warner Bros. Although not confirmed, sources believe that Fraser would play to the supervillain Firefly (Firefly), as reported by the Deadline site. Jacob Scipio also recently joined the cast, with Grace on board to play Barbara Gordon, also known as Batgirl. Filmmakers Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah (Bad Boys for Life) are the directors of the film.

The film will be screened at HBO Max, marking one of the first major DC properties to debut exclusively on the streaming. Kristin Burr wrote the script.

Although the details of the plot are still under wraps, it is known that Barbara Gordon, the daughter of Commissioner Gordon (played by JK Simmons), will be the character behind the cape in this version. Gordon is the most recent version of the Batgirl character who was first introduced in 1961 as Betty Kane.

Fraser, the former star of The Mummy (Mummy), has had a major revival in 2021 that began with the title role in Darren Aronofsky’s upcoming film The Whale. After finishing production on that, Martin Scorsese cast him for a key role in his next film. Killers of the Flower Moon, starting with Leonardo DiCaprio and Robert De Niro. It was also recently seen in No Sudden Move de Steven Soderbergh .
