Juanjo: General Villamil presents his most recent album ‘Los Playa Vol. 1’

For some years now, this project led by the Guayaquil artist David Rojas (@corviche) has been one of the most consolidated in independent national music, with an identity that has evolved over time, but that maintains in its ranks the essence of rock and psychedelia. One of the trends that El General Villamil (@elgeneralvillamil) also adheres to is that of varying members and having frequent collaborators; musicians like Tomás Cansing, Rafael Huerta, Ricardo Zevallos, Rafael Rendón, among others, are the ones who have been part of the band’s lineup.

Available on digital distribution platforms since last Friday, made up of eight songs and lasting approximately twenty-four minutes, The Beach Vol. 1 enjoys sounds influenced mostly by the rock and surf rock of the 60s and 70s. These elements vintage They fit perfectly with the visual aesthetics of their creators, who project themselves as young people who got together to record an album and have a good time as their main objective. Guitars, modulation effects, keyboards and discretes riffs complement the cycle of this production that clearly defines this group in front of their followers who have accompanied them from the beginning and in front of those who have appeared throughout their career.

From my perspective, this work was conceived to be listened to from beginning to end, without interruptions, since it has different instrumental passages that recall the almost extinct experience of listening to an entire album. I should mention that the entire beach-coastal concept that revolves around The Beach Vol. 1 fulfills its mission; it could surely function as the soundtrack to a road trip or even a day of fishing.

The image of artists today represents a large part of their credibility and greatly influences the criteria of their fansworking hand in hand with the imprint of her songs is an act that requires a lot of dedication, but of course the reward will be gratifying.
