Mickey Guyton, the acclaimed country star, is chosen to sing the national anthem of the United States at the start of the final game of the 2022 Super Bowl. Guyton’s presentation at the professional football championship will take place on Sunday, February 13 .
The 38-year-old artist made an impression on the music industry by being the first African-American woman with a Grammy Award nomination in a country category. He currently has 4 Grammy nominations. Additionally, she was the first female solo artist to host the 2021 Academy of Country Music Awards.
One of her most popular songs is “Black Like Me” (Negra Como Yo), in which she recounts her experience to stand out as a black woman in country music genre. This theme was released during the 2020 protests by the murder of African American George Floyd in United States.
Guyton will sing the anthem at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California, before kickoff and halftime. The interpreter of the song “All American” will share the stage with Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Mary J. Blige, Eminem and Kendrick Lamar and the presentation will be broadcast on NBC.
