bad bunny he joined to Ricky Martin and other Puerto Rican artists who have expressed their support for the island’s teachers, firefighters and other public employees demanding salary adjustments and pension benefits.

Taking advantage of the start of his new tour of the United States, specifically at the Ball Arena in Denver (Colorado), Bad Bunny offered a message in support of the educators and the rest of the professionals who marched on Wednesday in San Juan expressing their claim to the Government.

“Precisely today there is a number of Puerto Rican men and women protesting for a better salary, better conditions for education in Puerto Rico, the teachers of Puerto Rico who from here tell you that they have my support”expressed Bad Bunny in the presentation.

The artist, likewise, retweeted two publications of the march that started in the park on Wednesday Luis Munoz Rivera to La Fortaleza, seat of the Executive.

He also shared another tweet where the president of the Federation of Teachers of Puerto Rico, Mercedes Martínez, appears, where she assures Governor Pedro Pierluisi that the demonstrations will continue if they do not address their claims.

The current base salaries for teachers and firefighters, less than $2,000, are well below the cost of living on the island, although this week the governor announced a temporary salary increase for teachers of $1,000 a month starting in July.

The straw that broke the camel’s back of the patience of many public employees were some unfortunate statements by the governor, who said last Monday that “no one is obliged” to be a teacher, police officer or firefighter and that these professions are vocational.

Bad Bunny was part of the artists who demonstrated in the “Summer of 2019” after the publication of a controversial chat directed by then-governor Ricardo Rosselló, who later resigned from his post.

Another of those who participated in these demonstrations was Ricky Martin, who also took advantage of the occasion on Wednesday to express his support for the teachers and the rest of the public employees.

“Puerto Rico, teachers, firefighters, police officers, public servants: salary justice is a human right. Keep going, you are not alone.” said in a black and white video the author of successes as living the crazy life, The cup of Life Y Mary.

Addressing Pierluisi, he added: Governor, do not take these claims lightly. We already know how far a humiliated and oppressed country can go.”

For her part, the singer-songwriter Kany García took advantage of her participation in the Spanish program La Resistencia Cero to share the situation that the island is experiencing.

How is Puerto Rico today?, they asked him.

“It’s kind of complicated because, well, now things are happening with the issue of teachers’ salaries, which is a disaster. We are a little with that, but there we go to the street if necessary and there we will see ”, He said. (I)
