Jordi Sánchez confesses in a letter to his past self what he will suffer from COVID: “All your bones will hurt”

“My dear colleague and friend: the reason for this is to let you know what is coming your way…”. This is how Jordi Sánchez’s letter to his self from a year ago begins. The actor relates in a letter published in Vanitatis everything the process it has gone through over the past year after getting the coronavirus and that “not even in your worst dreams could you imagine”.

“On Sunday, on the AVE Barcelona-Madrid, you are going to feel chills and suppose that things are not going well. Next Monday, when you arrive at the shooting of ‘Lord, give me patience’, and they test you for covid, they are going to tell you what you already assumed, that you go home, that you have tested positive.

After 8 days in your apartment in Madrid, with a persistent fever and finding you not too bad, a friendly doctor is going to send you an ambulance, because she can’t see clearly that the thing is not going away, and when you get to the hospital they are going to give you a scare: ‘We are going to intubate you, if you want to call someone…’.

The first call will be for Eli, the person with whom you have been excited about things for many years now, and the first person you call when you have upsets and scares. And as always, and in the distance, he will reassure you, take care of you. You will not talk to your children, because you do not want to worry them and because you don’t even contemplate anything that sounds like a farewell.

You will call your mother, who just lost your father to covid, and so as not to worry her, you will tell her that they are going to admit you because you have the bug and that you will not be able to call her from the hospital, because they will not let you there, but that she be calm, that everything is fine. You will not tell him that they intubate you and even less that they put you to sleep. She won’t fully understand it, in fact she won’t believe it, but since your father’s thing is too recent to fit any more fears, she’ll prefer to play crazy, let herself be fooled and worry a lot saying very little. After 24 days they will wake you up. They won’t let anyone in, because the measures will be very strict, and that will be very hard for you. But everyone, and in the distance via Skype, will be very happy that you have woken up. But you will not understand the reason for such joy. Thirty years will have fallen on you. All your bones will ache, even your hands. You won’t be able to walk, you won’t be able to write, you won’t know if you can swallow, it will be hard for you to sleep and they won’t let you eat or drink. And the hallucinations that you are going to suffer due to the medication will make you believe, among many other things, that one of your children has died. It will be two horrible days.

In a very short time, which will seem too much to you, everything will improve and life will begin to fall into place. When they tell you that you are hallucinating, and that your children are perfectly fine, you will be the happiest man in the world and you will cry like a child of pure relief, of gratitude, of extreme joy. And from there everything will always go to more, to better, to good. In a little over a week you will begin to walk with the help of the physio, you will begin to write, to check that you can again swallow, eat, drink, shower and hold the tablet without weighing one hundred and twenty kilos… And finally, one day, when it will seem like it was never going to come, they will tell you that you can go. And you will be delighted. And outside will be waiting for you people you love very much. Not all of it, because you still can’t travel because of the bug, but enough, and an avalanche of precious messages from strangers will overwhelm and excite you.

You will step on the asphalt as if it were the sky. The rest of the story will be good, very good, and it will consist of recovering a life that you already liked. and that you didn’t have to be touched so much to realize that it was fine. All this is a small summary of what is going to happen to you, my friend. But don’t worry, there won’t be any sequels and soon after you get home they’ll call you to make a movie, and you’ll feel strong and you’ll do well. And you will be able to continue enjoying people, a job you love and life, as if it had all been a dream, a horrible nightmare, a disappointment. And today, after just one year, you’re going to eat rice with people you love and it’s going to taste like glory.”

An exciting story with which the actor generously opens his heart and helps those who may be suffering the same trance. A few months ago he also recounted in laSexta Noche his hard experience. In the video below these lines you can see the interview.
