The history of pizza goes back to times, it was the inhabitants of this region who ate flat cakes with olive oil, garlic and herbs. Its name was then “plangutos”. Pizza also reached Rome, where it gained a lot of popularity. They adopted the tradition and art of making pizza, which was then prepared with natural leaven, and today’s version is made with yeast. They called it focaccia and stole hearts. In the past, it was eaten mainly by the poor inhabitants of Naples and made it from flour and water.

What did the first and most expensive pizza look like?

When tomatoes were brought to Europe in the 17th century, they began to be used in the preparation of pizzas. The inhabitants of Naples often used them and in 1889, when they were visited by the Queen of Italy, the Magorzata of Savoy with her husband, they were prepared especially in their honor, known to us today. The pancake named after the queen was made of three ingredients in the national colors of Italy: basil, mozzarella and tomatoes.

Much later, Americans also fell in love with pizza, but they created a version of the pie in a different version – with a thick bottom and with many toppings. The recipe for the perfect pizza dough according to Magda Gessler

Preparation: 60 min. Baking: 13 min. Total: 73 min

Ingredients:

Pie:

  • 7 g of dry yeast
  • 1 and 1/2 teaspoons of sugar
  • 200 ml of warm water
  • 380 g of flour (preferably Italian pizza flour)
  • 3 tablespoons of olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon of salt
  • a pinch of pepper

Stuffing:

  • 2 tablespoons of tomato paste
  • a pinch of oregano
  • 20 grams of grated mozzarella
  • 1/2 jar of green olives
  • a couple of tablespoons of corn
  • after baking arugula and Parma / Black Forest ham

Preparation:

  1. Pour warm, but not hot, water into a bowl or pot. Pour dry yeast and mix. Let it rest for 5 minutes.
  2. In a large bowl, add the sifted flour, sugar, salt, olive oil, a pinch of pepper and the starting to work yeast. Knead 5-10 minutes until the dough is uniform and not sticky to your hands. Let stand for 30 minutes, cover with a cloth. After this time, the dough should definitely increase in volume.
  3. We divide it into two parts and bake two separate pizzas.
  4. We make a round cake with our hand. Put a tablespoon of tomato puree, spices, grated cheese on the dough, and then the remaining additions (add the rocket and ham after baking). Bake at 240 degrees for 11-14 minutes. Enjoy your meal!
