When the premiere of the first season took place (and let us recall that the series was made available to Russian viewers on the Premier platform from November 14, 2019), no one expected the series to be so successful. Almost immediately after the Russian premiere, he purchased the production rights, making the series available on his platform from October 8, 2020. The fact that the rights to the Russian series were purchased by a world tycoon, as well as the script itself, where an important cliffhanger was introduced to the last episode, seemed to prove that the creators of the series had not yet said the last word and a continuation would be created. On October 12, 2020, it was officially confirmed that “Towards the Lake” will see its second round. Originally, the second season was scheduled for the fall of 2021, but difficulties related to the coronavirus pandemic (lockdown, travel restrictions, general economic crisis) prevented the creators from shooting the second series in the originally planned period. So the production of the second series has moved in time. Eventually, shooting began on April 6, 2021. Therefore, it is estimated that new episodes of “Towards the Lake” will appear in 2022. The producers, however, do not provide a specific release date, and taking into account the not very good epidemic situation in Russia, this should not be surprising.

Where to watch ” Towards the Lake ” season 2?

Subscribers do not have to wonder where to watch the series “Towards the Lake”. The first series is available on the platform, the second season will also be included in the offer. However, it should be remembered that Netflix will be able to provide viewers with new episodes only after their Russian premiere. This one will take place, just like the premiere of season one, on the Russian Premier platform. It is already known that “Towards the Lake” season 2 will include, similarly to the first part, 8 episodes with a length of no more than 50 minutes.

Some speculate that the second season of “Towards the Lake” will see the collapse of the Russian government and that the country’s territory will be gradually taken over by armed Chinese. Whether it will be so in reality – viewers will find out with the premiere of the second series “Towards the Lake”. It is known, however, that Kirill Käro will certainly appear on the screens, playing the role of Sergey. There will also be Wiktoria Isakowa as Anna, and Mariana Spiwak as Irina. Eldar Kalimulin will play the role of Misha who suffers from Asperger Syndrome, and Wiktoria Agalakowa will play the role of Polina who has a problem with alcohol addiction. The cast, well-known to viewers, will probably be joined by new characters, but the creators of the series do not reveal what new faces the viewers will see in the second season of the series.

It is known, however, that the second season of the series “Towards the Lake” is directed by Dmitry Turin. The well-known and award-winning Russian artist replaced Pavel Kostomarov, who was responsible for the first series. Fans of the series also know for sure that it was based on the motifs of the best-selling post-apocalyptic novel by Jana Wagner, entitled “Pandemia”. In the original, the series is entitled “Epidemic” and tells the story of a mysterious and dangerous virus that paralyzes Moscow, which is capable of killing people within four days. The heroes, living in quiet suburbs, decide to escape to an island in a lake, which would ensure their safety. Will they manage to do it and what will the virus ultimately collect – the episodes of the second season of the series should provide an answer to these questions.
