“Behaviorist”. £ ukasz Palkowski: The times are such that I only read books for business purposes

Łukasz Palkowski jokes that as the leading (and so far the only) interpreter of Remigiusz Mróz’s prose on the Polish market, he must begin to value himself higher. – Remka can probably be called a wholesaler. I don’t know if I can keep up with its pace – the director and screenwriter laughs. His filmography, which includes all seasons of the series “Chyłka”, has recently been joined by “Behaviorist”. As Palkowski emphasizes, he got interested in Gerard Edling’s story even before the audience saw “Chyłka”. – At that moment, we thought about a feature film, but detective stories did not watch well in cinemas – reveals the filmmaker.

“Behaviorist”. Łukasz Palkowski: We had a big problem with casting Horst

The online world has become an integral part of everyday life – today everything is just a click away. As it turns out, for Horst Zeiger (Krystian Pesta), clicking is also a decision about the life or death of others. The Internet in his hands is a tool for precise planning of crimes and manipulation of people. Zeiger organizes the Hunger Games and invites you to take part in a bloody show virtually. The man took the children and teachers of one of the city schools hostage, without demanding anything in return. The choice of the victim is left to the viewers, hidden behind computer screens. Will the law enforcement agencies and Gerard Edling (Robert Więckiewicz), the title “Behaviorist”, be able to prevent the murders? Or maybe outdated police procedures and long-lasting formalities will stand in the way of saving more victims?

– We knew that our dream is for Robert Więckiewicz to play Gerard Edling. It was an absolutely optimal solution, but not entirely in line with Robert’s conditions. It seems to me that as a result we connected two worlds – emphasizes Łukasz Palkowski. It turns out that Robert Więckiewicz had a really big influence on the way the vision of the protagonist was shaped, which viewers can now watch on the screen. There was even “tormenting the scenarios” at stake.

As for the main antagonist in “Behavior,” Palkowski recalls that casting the actor as Horst was not the easiest thing to do. – We were wondering how not to duplicate what we did with Kuba Gierszał in “Chyłka”. We took a lot of test shots and it still wasn’t going as it should. It was then that I was editing an episode of “Chy³ki”, in which the episode was played by Krystian Pesta, and I decided: why not? His self-tape was the only one we saw to the end, and it was simply unrivaled in the test shots with Robert – says Palkowski.

The “Behawiorysta” series is available on Player.pl from January 4.
