Fun facts about fat Thursday and the donuts that we know
The donuts were initially made of bread dough and stuffed with pork fat, bacon or meat. They were treated as an appetizer for vodka and meat. Their sweet version appeared on Polish tables in the 16th century as a kind of surprise cake. Almonds or peanuts were put inside – whoever found such a donut was guaranteed a year of happiness and abundance. Then the donuts were prepared with filling, glazed and donuts.
