The artist June Crespo (Pamplona, ¿¿1982) will participate in the 59th Venice Biennale (Biennale Arte 2022) after receiving an invitation from the organization. This exhibition, an international benchmark for contemporary art, to be held between April 23 and 27, will feature the participation of 213 artists from 58 countries and will exhibit more than 1,400 works of art.
“How is the definition of the human being changing? What makes up life and what differentiates plants from animals? What differentiates humans from non-humans? What are our responsibilities to the planet, to other people, with other forms of life? What would life be like without us? Those are the questions that, according to the exhibition curator, Cecilia Alemani, will guide this edition of the biennial.
In her pieces, June Crespo “works from sculpture a language that refers to the body and its relationship with architecture”, explains the Etxepare Basque Institute, promoter of Crespo’s participation in the Biennale.
In 2021, the Artium Museum brought together works from different moments in Crespo’s career and those produced specifically for the project ‘June ¿¿Crespo. Helmets’.
