The Bilbao LGTBI+ Film and Performing Arts Festival will present its honorary award to the Argentine filmmaker and feminist activist Albertina Carriwho will receive him at the opening gala on February 28 at the Arriaga theater in the Biscayan capital.
On the occasion of the delivery of this recognition, the festival has organized a special cycle on the work of the Argentine director with the screening of several of her works at BilbaoArte from March 1 to 4. On February 27, the day before the opening gala, Zinegoak will screen one of her film works, the daughters of firein the BBK Room.
The artistic director of the contest, Alaitz Arenzana, has pointed out that Carri is “one of the most influential voices of a whole new generation of Latin American creators. Her work is a continuous exploration of her own languages and ways of showing everything that the dominant gazes intend leave off the field.
Albertina Carri has made more than half a dozen short films, such as excursions, dawn, Stories from Argentina live Y Barbie can be sad too (all in 2001), Fame (2003), Back (2004) or Remains (2010).
In his works, such as in feature films the blondes (2003) and Rustlers (2017), reflects the search for her parents, kidnapped by the 1977 military dictatorship and made to disappear when she was barely four years old.
In addition, she has also created programs for television and is the founder of the International LGTBI + Film Festival, Asterisco.
