Poles were the most willing to buy these records. The mat comes second and who’s the first?

The second place on the list is taken by Mata with the album “Young Matczak”, and on the third place is again sanah – this time with the previous album “Królowa dram”. The team’s proposal was just behind the podium.

Sanah released “Irenka” just one year after the premiere of “The Queen of Drama”. First, in the fall of 2020, the EP “BUJDA” was released with the hit “No sory”. This is the next chapter in the career of one of the most popular Polish singers, who promotes hit after hit (“Szampan”, “Melodia”, “You ask yourself”, “Sir”). The vocalist, whose real name is Zuzanna Jurczak, defended her BA thesis in the violin class at the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music (now she is continuing her education in the field of instrumental studies). Her “Irenka” aroused interest not only in Poland – in the premiere week, the album was on the Top 10 Global Album Debuts list of Spotify.

We buy Polish music

The list shows a huge domination of Polish artists. Although Poles spend less and less on traditional media, we are still more willing to buy albums by domestic artists. In the top twenty of the OLiS ranking (physical media), only one position belongs to artists from outside Poland and it is Adele’s album “30”, released after an almost six-year break, which came seventh. Another foreign album appears on the 23rd place. The Eurovision 2021 winners, the band Måneskin with the album “Teatro D’Ira Vol. 1”, have arrived here. In total, 69 albums in the top 100 belong to national authors and 28 to artists from outside Poland (the rest are compilations).

Hip-hop artists are traditionally a strong representation on the OLiS list, although this is not an overwhelming advantage. In the top ten of the list, six items belong to hip-hop, of which only one made it to the podium.

In all 52 quotes published last year, there were a total of 419 new products, only two less than in the previous year. Most often, the album “Irenka” sanah was on the first place on the OLiS list in 2021 – it recorded the highest sales five times. Second in Mata’s “Young Matczak” ranking, he reached the first place four times. PRO8L3M with the album “Fight Club” entered the OLiS list three times.

Sanah boasts yet another best result: her album “The Queen of Drama” was listed on all 52 charts.

Vinyls are a completely different matter

For several years, vinyl releases have been returning to favors – it is in each case a much smaller circulation, but black records have their fans. The most popular vinyl record of last year was the last studio album of the Kult band, entitled “The Last Record”. The release was released in May last year. The second place in the annual OLiS Winyle list is taken by Kayah and Bregović with the album released in 1999 and remastered in 2015 – “Kayah i Bregović”. Last year’s release “30” Adele was again on the podium.

In 2021, the total number of all albums sold from the top 100 of the OLiS annual list exceeded 1.3 million copies, which is an increase compared to 2020 by 7%.
