James Rhodes’ gesture to a young woman with mental health problems who can’t afford college

James Rhodes has once again shown solidarity that characterizes him by offering himself to pay the cost of a young woman’s university studies with mental health problems who have been denied the scholarship.

It all started about a year ago. Nay had to face the suicide of her grandfather and to a long quarantine by COVID-19. All this led to “a generalized anxiety disorder” which, not surprisingly, affected his performance in college.

I had tachycardia and my head told me that I was going to die at that moment. I spent days without being able to breathe. I went several times a day to different pharmacies to take my blood pressure. I spent whole weeks and months without sleeping, since I could only be on the sofa in my house crying, thinking about death and that I was about to die,” he explained through social networks.

In a Twitter thread, the young woman has confessed that she had to receive medical assistance at her home several times due to the “suicidal thoughts” he had and “hallucinations from the medication”. All this prevented him from fulfilling his academic obligations and “postponing exams to prioritize” his health.

Despite justifying the situation with his medical and academic records, the scholarship for this year has been denied and now he has to face the fees university plus the expenses that the study of a career entails, in its case Pharmacy. “It’s a fucking shame that they screw up the economy of a family who has also spent a year paying private psychologist sessions at €60 an hour because her daughter had suicidal thoughts and they gave her public appointments spaced out for months,” she denounced on her Twitter account.

This hard story has reached the ears of James Rhodes, who has decided to face the costs and has denounced the neglect of the institutions towards these cases.
