Tadeusz Bradecki was born in 1955 in Zabrze. In 1977, he graduated from the acting department of the State Higher School of Theater in Krakow, seven years later at the same university he received a drama director’s diploma. While still a student, he did an internship at the Laboratory Theater in Wrocław and an acting internship with Peter Brook.
His death was announced by the team of Teatr Śląski im. Stanisław Wyspiański. ” It is with great sadness and regret that we received the news of the death of Tadeusz Bradecki, who was the artistic director of our theater from 2007 to 2013. It was during his management and on his initiative in Teatr Śląski, among others performances from prestigious European stages were presented as guest performances and the team from Katowice presented their titles in front of the audience, among others Spain, France and Hungary.
From the beginning of his activity, Brodecki was associated with the Stary Theater in Krakow, first as an actor, then as a director, and finally as the general and artistic director of the Krakow stage. In the years 2003–2007 he was also the director of the National Theater in Warsaw. In 1998, as a teacher, he joined the PWST in Krakow. He was also an individual member of the Union of European Theaters.
Work at the Silesian Theater
During his work at the Silesian Theater on the Katowice stage, he directed “Polterabend” (2008) based on a text by S. Mutz and two Shakespeare titles: “The Taming of the Shrew” (2009) and “All’s Well That Ends Well” (2010). His last performance at Teatr Śląski was “Sztuka” by Yasmina Reza na Scenie w Malarni (2017), which is still in the repertoire.
Awards won
Tadeusz Bradecki in his career was the laureate of awards, including Leon Schiller and the Konrad Swinarski. Additionally, he was awarded the Golden Yorik twice for Shakespearean performances. A unique achievement was receiving the award of the Theater Critics Section of the Polish ITI UNESCO Center for popularizing Polish theater culture abroad.
Director of over 100 performances
In his work, he directed over 100 performances not only in Polish but also foreign theaters, including Austria, France, Canada and Korea. Many of them have been awarded, mainly for directing, in the most important Polish competitions and at theater festivals – the Festival of Polish Contemporary Plays in Wrocław, Kalisz Theater Meetings, Opole Theater Confrontations “Polish Classic”, the National Competition for the best staging of Shakespeare’s dramatic works or the National Festival Comedy Talia in Tarnów.

In addition to his theater career, he also developed in film art. He was appreciated by film and television makers, thanks to which he starred in, among others, Krzysztof Kieślowski (“Amateur”, “Without the End”), Krzysztof Zanussi (“Constans”, “A Year of a Quiet Sun”, “Life for Life”, “Life as a Mortal sexually transmitted disease “,” Revizyta “), Tadeusz Konwicki (” The Issa Valley “).
