The Cuencan band Bajo Sueños released a new version of their album ‘Nada de amor’

The studio album was originally released in 1998 and opened up international opportunities for them.

In the history of rock national, the disc no love, from the Cuencan band Bajo Sueños, occupies a special place. It was originally launched in 1998, and thanks to it many doors, national and international, were opened for them. Due to the affection they have for their first plate and at the request of their followers, this year they reissued it in two versions: a digipack A5 format and a box set which includes several collectible items.

At a time when digital predominates over analog, Bajo Sueños offers a gift to its fans at the beginning of 2022. With the support of the Ecuadorian record company Hybrid Music They released a new version of their first studio board. Mauricio Calle, vocalist, explains that they had been thinking about this process for several years, but due to various factors it was delayed until this January it materialized.

The original version of no love It was on compact disc with a simple format, but it caught the attention and sold quickly. The years passed and in 2018 it turned two decades; and although so much time passed, the songs included there became anthems during the concerts, that being more than enough reason to give life to this project.

Calle explains that another detail that makes it unique is that what sounds are the original versions of the album released in 1998, that at that time sold 1,500 copies but was never reissued by them due to rights issues to a music company of the time, but now it is their entire property. The twelve themes were not interpreted by the current members, but the work of the founders was respected. In the studio, an equalization was made to gain volume and that it is in accordance with the current situation, but nothing more.

“We have love and gratitude for the album, because it was the one that made us tour for many years. Perhaps the older generation urgently requested a physical format. Maybe the younger ones don’t understand that and that’s why we want people to come back to the collection.”

The first edition offered is a digipack in A5 format that includes the CD and an insert. While the most complete is the box set that brings several exclusive details, such as two key rings, a cloth flag, a cup, a patch, a poster, a pencil, a sticker, a postcard, the A5 disc with its respective notebook. The first is priced at $18 and the second is $40. Both, according to Mauricio Calle, have a limited edition of 500 and 300 copies, respectively.

A partially modified element is the cover. Originally the photo of the feet of a dancer on broken glass was blue with reddish touches, but this one is darker, in a fusion in which black predominates. This work was done by the graphic designer of Bajo Sueños, Freddy Uday, who gave it a “modern touch, current, rocker”. What was also innovative was the inclusion of the insert, which includes the lyrics of the songs and some photos of the first members of Bajo Sueños.

Due to the global context of the pandemic, the release of the album will have to wait, he assures, but as soon as it is possible they will be ready to meet people again. (I)
