“Jaśniejąca” is a trailer of Aniela’s upcoming album. Behind this name is one of the most remarkable stories on the Polish scene. Joanna Prykowska and Paweł Krawczyk have been reaching the hearts of listeners with their music for over 25 years, but the paths of both artists were completely different. Prykowska fell in love with the Polish audience with beautiful and non-obvious songs with the Firebirds band, back in the 90s. In turn, Krawczyk changed a few line-ups to finally become the main – next to Kasia Nosowska – character in Hey, one of the most important bands in the history of Polish music.
Aniela is a new chapter for each of them – for Prykowska a long-awaited return after many years, for Krawczyk the first original creation after Hey. Musically, Aniela takes listeners into the world of atmospheric songs with a clear nod to the 80s and 90s. Associations with Eurythmics, Sinead O’Connor, Tanita Tikaram or Everything But The Girl will be absolutely right.
The moving music video for “Jasniejąca” was made where it all began, that is in Szczecin. It was in this city that Joanna Prykowska and Katarzyna Nosowska met in the choir of the Szczecin University of Technology. “This picture is our friendship. Szczecin beginnings that led us to now and here. A huge heart for Katarzyna Nosowska for wanting to recall and share this story” – writes Prykowska on Facebook.
– While writing the text, I thought about what always attracted me and fascinated me about my friends. It is spontaneity, wisdom, strength, honesty and undoubted admiration, it is such a complement to all my inexpressible longings, the need for closeness and brotherhood – says the singer. – I think that there is a certain universalism in it, because we all need this secret agreement, the warmth of a second soul and complement in another human being. It was like that with Kaśka.
The distant years, we are young, extraordinarily and completely crazy, virginly naive and trying to mark our place in the surrounding world at least a little. The first cigarettes, the first miraculously obtained cosmetics, our first singing. We were entering adulthood together. Zuta and Kasia – actresses playing in the music video, showed our friendship set in the early nineties in a great way. And the chorus? Paweł played it so that the angels almost flew from heaven!
– I wanted everyone to feel that we are not alone, that someone who supports us and always wishes us well, that we ourselves are also a beacon for someone – adds Joanna Prykowska. – I could not have dreamed it otherwise, Kaśka sang with me and this is our story. This is also your story.
