Gourmet: La Enoteca

For lovers or those curious about wine, two characteristics make it “the place”.

There is a lot to say about this place, located on the second floor of New Square. It is made up of the Enoteca itself and its restaurant, separated by a real grape vine, Cabernet Sauvignon, which when we went, had already formed its first clusters.

For lovers or those curious about wine, two characteristics make it “the place”. It is of exquisite taste, with perfect lighting, small and cozy, in wood, with a technically designed tasting room. In addition, it specializes in medium-range wines upwards, difficult to find in any other liquor store and from a large number of appellations of origin and regions. It is true for Chileans, Italians, but above all for Spanish wines. It has more than twenty denominations of origin, with strains impossible to obtain in Ecuador. Our pick of the day to buy was the Priory of Razamonde, Ribeiro, Brancellao and Souson ensemble, and the Treixadura. And then the Arx de Tesalia, a blend of Tintilla de Rota and Syrah, Andalusian. Your host is sommelier Rodrigo Diaz, Who greets customers? It is the first place that has a professional sommelier, with credentials, which provides personalized attention to visitors.

We then move on to the restaurant, where a young chef with internship experience in world-class restaurants also provides personal treatment. His maître, also, is top notch. Without a doubt, the experience begins well.

The restaurant has a short menu and a menu of wine experiences. Of the latter, three options can be chosen, which vary over time. The experience of Blends andinos of two hemispheres, Whispers of the Terroir Y Traveling through Spain. We chose the second to accompany our dinner, which consisted of a Glener Casttelfeder Pinot Nero, a Salentein Merlot Reserva and a Montes Alpha Carmener. Probably the least known is the Glener, a wine from northern Italy, easy to drink, brick-colored, with a very short aftertaste, but impressive on the palate.

From the menu we chose Baked Cauliflower, served with a goat cheese and dill sauce that made a pleasant impression on us due to its simplicity and at the same time the coherent mix of ingredients. A simple dish, in which the flavor of the cauliflower is not overshadowed and combines wonderfully with the goat cheese sauce.

Then we try the sandwich, from pulled pork with red cabbage and truffled potatoes with parmesan cheese in an excellent bread. One pulled pork in which the sauce, which was not barbecue, I dont know come to the pig Finally, crab cakes covered in tartar sauce and arugula on a bed of sweet corn and Neapolitan sauce. Excellent. Only the sweet corn was extra. La Enoteca is the best place to buy excellent wines, at reasonable prices, and be able to try them, or those that the restaurant has chosen in its wine tasting menu, with a light and pleasant meal.
