Virtual tour of Cuenca guided by the liberator Simón Bolívar, an experience that will be shared from the Fotomap application

Next Thursday will be his presentation in Cuenca.

Touring historical spaces in Cuenca guided by the figure of the liberator Simón Bolívar is an experience that can be lived at the end of this month. With the application of technology and imagination, the entrepreneur Andrés Gárate, founder of Uroboro XR Studio, will present next Thursday the prototype of a mobile application called Fotomap, in which the Liberator will come to life in virtual reality mode.

The idea of recreating historical characters was born from Gárate, who seeks to highlight Cuenca, a World Heritage city, in a way that is easy to admire on foot and with figures and curious data. In a previous study, he discovered that about 900,000 tourists visit Cuenca a year, of which 740,000 are nationals.

Motivated, Andrés began to work on recreating a three-dimensional avatar so that it would become a virtual tour guide in a real space, but with the added bonus that the user is the protagonist and chooses the place where he wants to go within the 112 sectors. that make up the so-called Bicentennial Route, which includes the historic center, El Ejido or Turi, that is, spaces that link the heritage and modern areas of the city.

The chosen points are easy to recognize, because they are marked with flags and stickers that have QR code inserts, a work previously carried out by the Municipal Directorate of Culture and ceded for the Uroboro undertaking.

From his studio, located in the Loja Avenue sector, Gárate explains that this first test stage has his first character ready; but thanks to the technology he possesses, plus the monetization he achieves and the support of public and private companies, he plans to give life to others, such as the Ecuadorian poets César Dávila Andrade or Eugenio Moreno.

He says that in its business model the application gives the possibility of generating advertising in real time, so Simón Bolívar will not only talk about historical facts, but also give suggestions of nearby places to visit, such as restaurants, bars, markets, shops, etc. etc.

Fotomap’s presentation will be on January 27 at the Sucre Theater, starting at 7:00 p.m. Here, said the young filmmaker from Cuenca, in addition to exposing the project, they will make a first tour with those present through some places in the center. A link will be sent so that they can access this experience from their mobile devices. (I)
