The Guayaquil artist resumes the premieres after a break of almost two years after the pandemic. He clarifies that his private life will always be kept in reserve.
He is clear about his path in life. Music is the path he wants to follow professionally and it is the legacy he wants to share with those who identify with his lyrics. The Guayaquil singer Tono Navarrete (29) promotes his most recent single titled Loco, a declaration of love turned into a song with urban rhythms, Latin influences and instrumental applications.
“In mid-2021 we made it at the Arte Stereo recording studio, together with friends like Adrián León (his best friend and guitarist) and Daniel Ugalde (manager), and we wrote it based on the schedule we had set for 2022, which It is a year that will have a lot of movement in my career. The song was made in three studios in Guayaquil (OntiPro, Auditory Management), by the hand of Renny Rodríguez, we did co-production with me”, he indicates.
Loco, a song mixed by Antony Albert and mastered by Criss Müller, shows a new sound in Toño’s musical proposal without neglecting his essence. “As we were in this experiment of being able to find the new sound that defines the new maturity that I want to project as an artist and as a producer as well, there is this experiment of error-correctness and you enter into that dynamic because you are not enchanted at first and you look for that a result that is more in line with what you want to project,” he says.
Toño assures that in this new production there is a diverse artistic richness. “It is an urban area that has a mixture of everything, it has the dembow of reggaeton, of afrobeat and I would say that it is a fusion that invites you not only to dedicate it, but also calmly invites you to dance to it without any problem”, he adds.
With a four-year musical career, Toño clarifies that the musical break was necessary during the start of the pandemic to give his compositions due time and attention.
“In my case, I don’t want this to be misunderstood, but my career is not a whim, it’s not a daddy, mommy, I want to be famous!, or I want to sing and conquer the world; my career comes with a professional team that is betting on my talent, there was no income and we had to pause and dedicate ourselves to work once things began to improve. 2021 was a less complicated year than 2020 because in that year there was almost no income, beyond what one can receive from royalties. 2020 was a year that we decided to stop, that it cost a lot and that there was a bit of that intrigue because everything was paralyzed”, he reveals.

The story that the audiovisual tells, indicates Toño, is very similar to the situations that are experienced in reality. “It is a declaration of love, where this person searches in a very special way for the person he likes, who drives him crazy, who turns his world upside down. We made the video clip in Guayaquil and we decided to choose picturesque places in the city to enhance and give this plot much more life”, he asserts about the production.

If I was wrong to say a single person would be deceiving me, it would not be real or honest with my feelings and in my case, I try to capture what I have lived and felt at the time, but it is not necessarily a total representation of my present, as a person that he has apart from his professional career, he also has his life. Entering the sentimental plane, always what has to do with the love of a couple, which I love to feel and live, it will always be an intern, I will never close myself to that, I have always tried to keep it to myself. First, because that is the treasure that no one wants to touch, that I do not want anyone to touch, because it ends up being a refuge, it is the same as the family”, he maintains.

New projects
Toño also says that after the promotion of Loco The presentations of the following singles that he worked on during the start of the pandemic will come. “Three of four (songs) are already ready, we are analyzing the possibility of an EP, it has to do a lot with how the wave of the pandemic is going, because a few months ago dates were about to be closed for carnival and Easter and now everything remains a little in the air. It would be irresponsible to have dates when massive concerts are prohibited, so we are focused on promoting my song”, he refers.
This year he has once again received proposals to join in the integration of new productions, but he emphasizes that he currently prefers to focus on his musical career. “The stage of I’m the best I lived it and enjoyed it at the time, I am a song artist who now wants to work for music, this is my present and that is my priority. I do not mean to say that I will not be in a drama or that I will not be in another reality national or international, simply what has to come if it is going to be a contribution to my career, we are going to do it without any problem”, he maintains.
