Fiallos was born in the city of Baños de Agua Santa on July 25, 1919. He is the author of more than 400 musical pieces and a variety of poems. In its musical repertoire there are several traditional rhythms and genres such as albazos, dancers, parades, corridors, sanjuanitos, tonada and typical airs.
The artist joined several musical ensembles as a singer and guitarist from 1944 to 1947; among them the cachullapi set, directed by the trumpeter Víctor Manuel Salgado, and also made up of the sons of the maestro Luis Humberto Salgado: Pepe, trumpeter, and Jorge, saxophonist. in this ensemble Marco Vinicio Bedoya was artistic director. Ante formed an ensemble with Olympus Cardenas.
He was also part of the Ritmos Criollos ensemble, the Julio Cañar Orchestra, and in the Conjunto Oriente, Los Romanceros Andinos, Los Hermanos Castro, among others.
From 1948 to 1949, he worked in the company disquera IFESA, as a cartoonist, he was a designer of record covers, logos of the jukeboxes that were sold in the Almacén Emporio Musical.
Fiallos was national president of the Society of Ecuadorian Authors and Composers (SAYCE), from 1986 to 1988.
He has set the poetry of Gabriela Mistral, Angel Leonidas Araújo, José María Egas, Buenaventura Navas, among others.
Several national artists have given voice to his compositions, including Julio Jaramillo, Paulina Tamayo, Mendoza Suasti Sisters, Colonial Trio, Teresita Andrade Y Margaret Lasso.
“My songs have been performed by the best artists in Ecuador and I am very happy, because the people welcomed them and sing them, that is my happiness”, Fiallos said for this newspaper in 2019.
A press release states that the artist was preparing with his great-granddaughter Estefania Ron Fiallos an autobiography, with anecdotes, passages from his life.
His body is being veiled in the theater that bears his name, located in Baños, and whose capacity is limited according to the protocols of the pandemic. His funeral will take place tomorrow, Thursday, January 20, at the Municipal Cemetery.
For his departure, 3 days of mourning have been decreed in the Baños canton, and the flag will be raised at half-staff in public and private entities.
On January 29, the Sucre National Theater Foundation and the Mama Cuchara Cultural Center will present a concert in her honor at the Ernesto Albán Variety Theater. (I)
