Researchers from the University of Warsaw created a map of the world of “The Witcher”. The effect is impressive

“Where is Kaer Morhen – the witcher’s lair? Where is Wyzima? – the capital of Temeria, where Geralt fought the Striga in the first story by Andrzej Sapkowski. How far is it from the Skellige Archipelago to Cintra?” – the members of the team working on the project “Geographic and political atlas of Poland. In addition to the locations known to fans of “The Witcher” on the map, there are also many names and geographic objects invented to complete the map. The general layout of countries, mountain ranges and main rivers is consistent with maps developed by fans so far. However, this is the first map of such detail. accurately depicting the topography, the course of borders and rivers, the location of the islands and the location of cities classified according to the number of inhabitants “- reads the website conducted by the scientists.

The “Geographic and political atlas of Poland. Poland in the modern world: the 2022 perspective” is a continuation of the research and editorial project carried out in 2015-2018 with the funds of the National Science Center. The NCN grant ended in 2018 with the publication of the “Geographic and political atlas of Poland. Poland in the modern world”, under the National Patronage of the President of the Republic of Poland, awarded on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of Poland regaining independence (1918-2018). Scientists emphasize that the atlas met with great interest – the first circulation was sold before its official promotion. In 2019, Atlas was awarded the third prize in the “atlases” category at the 29th International Cartographic Conference (CC2019) / International Map Exhibition in Japan.
