A clogged sink is a common problem in many homes and occurs in both the kitchen and bathroom. However, it must be remembered that the drain pipes do not clog themselves. Food leftovers in the kitchen, cosmetic sludge and bathroom hair accumulate in the drain for a long time. It is also a huge mistake pouring it down the drain in the sink or into the toilet. When poured into the sewage system, it solidifies, settling on the walls of the pipes and creates blockages – remember not to do this!
If the water in the sink drains slower and the smell coming out of the drain is unpleasant, do not wait until it becomes more clogged and you will have to use caustic and environmentally harmful detergents or call a specialist. In such a situation, a less invasive, cheap and maybe saving on plumber may come to your aid.
Surprising use of salt. It will free you from a troublesome problem and save you money
In order to avoid more serious breakdowns and heavily clogged sinks, it is worth taking care of them on a daily basis. It works great with salt, which probably everyone has in their kitchen. All you need to do is pour about half or a whole glass of salt into the drain, and after a while you pour two liters of boiling water. After such treatment, the debris remaining in the pipes will be removed.
If you find the pipes clogged more, you can create a slightly stronger mixture by combining half a cup of salt with half a glass. Then pour this mixture into the drain and pour hot water over it. Remember, however, that household detergents are more delicate than store ones, so it is worth using them prophylactically at least once a week.
