Filmmaker Peter Bogdanovich, director of films such as ‘Paper Moon’, dies at 82

The American film director Peter Bogdanovich, responsible among others for ‘The Last Movie’ or ‘Paper Moon’, has died at the age of 82, as confirmed by his family. Bogdanovich has passed away by natural causes shortly before 1:00 a.m. (US local time), according to a statement sent by his daughter, Antonia Bogdanovich.

“We would like to ask you respect for our privacy while we mourn the death of our loved one, this wonderful man,” according to a statement collected by the NBC network. Bogdanovich leaves behind an extraordinary legacy as one of the great representatives of the so-called New Hollywood.

This cinematographic trend with a marked countercultural character and with a clear European influence became the gateway to legendary directors such as Francis Ford Coppola, Steven Spielberg, Martin Scorsese o George Lucas.
