Primary healthcare doctors (POZ) will be obliged to ask patients at least once a year three important questions about:
- weight
- growth,
- use or not tobacco products.
Although these have been in force for five years and result from the Regulation of the Minister of Health of June 26, 2019, it was only from March 2025 that the National Health Fund (NFZ) begins to enforce their implementation more severely. Doctors who do not follow the guidelines can take into account sanctions, e.g. blocked payments for benefits.

The regulations that began to be enforced at the beginning of March arouse mixed feelings among doctors. Dr Michał Sutkowski in an interview with the journalist of the Medonet.pl portal expresses concerns about their practicality. Collecting information about weight and tobacco habits can extend visits and hinder work. The question of whether the collected data will bring real benefits to the health system remains open.
– […] For the first five years, the National Health Fund did not enforce this data from doctors, from this year we have to obtain it on the first visit. And what if the patient is chronically ill, unconscious, lying, we are on a home visit and the patient is with plaster, with orthosis? Should I weigh him at home with this gypsum, go to visits with weight and tallom? What if this patient is dying? If I do not break down this data in the system, I will be punished. In addition, these are data that are confidential, like all medical data, they are covered by medical secrets and should be disclosed and processed only in justified situations. – emphasized Dr. Sutkowski.
