Poland has a new Pole! Jesse Eisenberg with citizenship. What was his first words?

President Andrzej Duda gave Polish citizenship to an American actor. Jesse Eisenberg is already Polish.

He received documents from President Andrzej Duda confirming that he was a Polish citizen. The actor has Polish roots, which greatly facilitated the procedure.

Jesse Eisenberg Pole!

Jesse Eisenberg did not come to Poland for the ceremony of giving him citizenship. He took advantage of the presence of President Andrzej Duda in the United States – the president gave a speech in the UN plenary hall in New York on Tuesday. Eisenberg received the act of granting citizenship at the Polish Representation at the UN.

I am glad that people from the world, from across the ocean, remember about their origin, that their ancestors come from the Commonwealth and want to get involved with our country – said President Andrzej Duda.

Jesse Eisenberg, actor, director, Hollywood star and from now on a Polish citizen – wrote Wojciech Kolarski, secretary of state at the Chancellery of the President of the Republic of Poland, in social media.

I am glad that I am a European, but I am even more happy that I am a Polish citizen – said Eisenberg after the ceremony, as Jakub Rylski from RMF FM cites his words.

When applying for Polish citizenship, Eisenberg did not have to take any exams and prove his knowledge of the country on the Vistula. All because of the documented origin of the actor’s ancestors. His relatives lived in Lublin and Krasnystaw before leaving for the USA just before the Second World War. Eisenberg’s wife, Anna, also has Polish roots.

The act of giving citizenship to the actor came for less than two days too late to be able to say that Oscar for “real pain” (actually for Kieran Culkin) was a statuette for Poland. Eisenberg partly based his film on his own story – he was looking for roots in Poland, and “real pain” became a fictionalized picture of this search. When receiving citizenship certificate, the actor said that “he is even incredibly honored”.

When I was walking on these streets and felt more and more comfortable in this country, I realized that my family lived in this place much longer than in the United States, “said Eisenberg, holding the act of giving citizenship.

The Poles welcomed the countryman with their own sense of humor – memes, questions about who Jesse Eisenberg would vote for in the next presidential election, and … which mayonnaise is closer to his heart.
