The Reggae Rock Festival (formerly bookcase, reggae dub festival) was suspended. Such a decision was made As a result of voting councilors from the City Council in Bielawafor which the mayor of the city, Andrzej Hordyj asked. The politician indicates a decrease in interest in reggae music and emphasizes that financial resources from the sale of tickets are not enough to cover the costs of organizing the event.

“Unfortunately, for several years there has been a strong regression of the popularity of reggae music not only in Poland, but also all over the world. This species has become completely niche and is not able to generate a wide audience, which when buying tickets will be able to fully finance this cultural event” – wrote Andrzej Hordyj, Mayor of Bielawa on Facebook.
The director of the Municipal Culture and Arts in Bielawa openly admits that the income from last year’s event did not cover even half of the funds spent on its organization. “Looking at ticket sales statistics, it can be considered that the issue of the unprofitability of the event in financial terms is almost obvious. At costs of PLN 563 927.40 last calendar year (with any drastic costs), the income from the event was at the level of PLN 227,375.00” – says Paweł Brzozowski, director of the Municipal Culture and Art Center in Bielawa.
According to Gazeta Wrocławska, The festival suspension is not synonymous with its liquidation. Officials do not rule out possible reactivation of the event in the event of a sponsor.
The Reggae Rock Festival was held every year in August above the artificial water reservoir at the “Camping Sudete” Holiday and Recreation Center.
