Washing towels – seemingly simple, but it doesn’t always work well
towels are one of the basic order activities in our homes. We use towels every day, which is why they are particularly vulnerable to dirt and impurities, so they should be washed often.
It would seem not difficult. We put the towel into the washing machine, add detergents, set the washing program and ready. And yet not always after pulling out of the washing machine, our towels are what we would like. Why? The problem is that the usual washing of towels in the washing machine is not enough. If we want our towels to be perfectly soft and fluffy, it is worth following a few rules:
- We always wash towels separatelythey should not be combined with other types of textiles, because they could negatively affect the structure of towels, damaging their delicate fibers
- If we have more towels for washing, instead of overfilling the washing machine drum, it is worth separating them into two laundry – towels must have enough space so that the water can flow through them freely, so that it will not only thoroughly rinse all impurities, but also relax the material well
- Watch out for the type used for washing detergents. Washing powder is not the best choice, because it can settle between the fibers, while making our towel be rough. Better reach for more delicate gels or capsules
- It is worth adding a little vinegar or baking soda to the laundry. Thanks to them, the fibers relax and the towels become soft. In addition, they also have disinfectant properties, which in the case of towels is very desirable and allow you to maintain its original color
- Although on the tags of most towels we can find information that they are suitable for ironing, it is better to give it up – high temperature may negatively affect the quality of towels and deprive them of fluffiness
At what temperature to wash towels?
When setting the washing program, we often also ask ourselves at what temperature to wash towels. It is worth using information that is contained on the product label, because the choice of temperature depends, among others from the material from which the towel is made.
Generally The water temperature range in which we wash towels ranges in the range of 40 to 60 degrees. It allows you to preserve the color and fluffiness of towels and guarantees longer use. In the case of very dirty towels or those that require special disinfection (e.g. the towel we used in the hospital), washing at higher temperatures (even 90 degrees). However, it should be taken into account that washing at such a high temperature is negatively affected by both the life of the towels and their structure. Towels are well disinfected, but they become rough and free of color.

How to wash new towels? It is important
And how are new towels? The washing of newly purchased towels is very important for several reasons:
- allows you to get rid of all impurities and dust
- It affects the structure of the towels very well, especially if they are soaked in the water for several hours earlier
- Thanks to soaking, the material relaxes and we can easily get rid of outgoing fibers
We do not wipe the newly purchased towel right away. Before use, wash it to ensure optimal use for a long time.
