The changes, however, were preceded by the decision of the National Media Council, which under the leadership of Krzysztof Czabański at that time elected Adamczyk as the president of TVP. However, the decision had no real consequences, because on TVP people appointed by the then Minister of Culture and National Heritage Bartłomiej Sienkiewicz began to rule. In addition, the District Court confirmed that the Polish Television authorities were elected “undoubtedly legal and correct”. In addition, RMN also appointed a new member of the TVP board – Tomasz Owsiński. The court refused to enter the decision in the National Court Register. For the next months, Michał Adamczyk emphasized that he was the president of TVP.
Wojciech Król from the Civic Coalition took Czabański from Law and Justice. The rulers obtained the majority in the National Media Council and began to organize the legal situation of public media.
“We adopted a resolution repealing resolutions appointing Michał Adamczyk and Tomasz Owsiński to members of the Polish Television Board in connection with the pointlessness of these resolutions. They did not come into force, therefore they were repealed for a certain legal order ” – chairman of the National Media Council.
The king emphasizes that the judgment is not final, and Adamczyk has the right to appeal against this decision, although in his opinion this would not be justified. “The court actually confirmed the ineffectiveness of the adoption of a resolution by the National Media Council about the appointment of Michał Adamczyk as a member of the board. And he decided that there was no legal interest, because he was not effectively appointed to the board of Polish Television” – emphasizes the chairman of the RMN.
“The National Media Council is ridiculed”
Michał Adamczyk commented on the decision for the Wirtualne Media website. “The power camp again at an absurd way tries to legalize the assassination of public media. RMN called me in the same mode as the President of the Board of TVP and based on the same provisions as Mateusz Matyszkowicz before, who received a discharge a few days ago for 2023 ” – wrote the former TVP presenter.
In his position he sharply criticized the council’s actions. “In the new composition, RMN decided to ridicule, because on the one hand he recognizes that he has the competence to appoint a board, and on the other hand, he questions his own decisions and tries to withdraw them after more than a year after making. In addition, Adamczyk announced that he would discuss the problem during the next meeting of the TVP supervisory board. “I have no doubt that all this will be settled in the future” – he points out. However, according to the court, the people who the former TVP presenter talks about are not members of supervisory boards.
