97. Gala of Oscars behind us. In the political internation, which passes not only through the United States, but also also through the whole world, the American Film Academy has behaved like “three small little ones”: I can’t see, don’t say, I don’t say.

It was beautiful, nice, friendly. Zero crooked glances, nothing happens, no uncomfortable jokes, smiles on the faces, nothing happens, do not look up, it is great, we all love each other, do not look up, there is nothing there. The most media film gala gave the impression that it went back to 2014, 2015. As if her teeth were broken and ordered to enjoy that it ended. Even the speeches of some winners referred to violence in Palestine were only a small globe during the performance of the orchestra playing at Titanic – this year’s Oscar gala.

Oscars 2025 – Let the ball continue

This year, the American Film Academy appreciated the independent and low -budget cinema. The Palestinian-Israeli co-production was noticed, there was a film about the political systemic violence (excellent “I’m Still here” from Brazil), the most statuettes were awarded to the history of a sex worker. Apparently everything was as it should be, from the ruler, nobody broke off. Everyone thanked their beloved and children, obligatory to support producers. Nobody fell over, did not make a mistake, no a bit of a naked body accidentally flashed from any dress. Nothing happened.

Hollywood completely capitulated. The only opportunity in the whole year was not used to speak on matters that are important not only for the film environment, but even for the whole world. The opportunity was wasted, 18 million people watching the broadcast on television were not reached. They put on wide smiles, tinsel and light fun. Cinema people who could – should – speak in matters that are unambiguous in morally, They behaved like the famous Japanese wise monkeys:

I can’t see, I can’t hear, I don’t say.

Hollywood sees, but he suddenly has too little courage to speak (although an award was awarded to, for example, a document about Putin Nawalna killed by Putin). He pretends he can’t hear. He pretends that nothing is happening.

Of course, specific actions and words could be a reason for criticism. If the voice on Ukraine and President Trump’s actions were taken, the American show business would probably be criticized by the president and Russia himself. It could end with the repercussions of the US power towards Hollywood. Silence, however, did not mean that nothing happened. Trump does what she wants anyway, and Russia got what she has not had – for a reason – for three years: not only the presence of Russian actors at the gala, but also praising their work. But nothing happens.

The statuette for “Anory” as the best film last year meant that Russian stars entered the Dolby Theater stage – and no, we are not talking about dissidents or refugees from the Putin regime. The nomination for Jurija Borisov caused a careful positive reactions from Putin’s supporters (Kremlin Peskov spokesman said that this is not the end of the fire firewall against Russia in culture). But the fact that ultimately “Anora” became the best film became a contribution to the explosion of a real triumph. Here no one “campaigns” of Russian culture – on the contrary, a few years of curious view is just ending. For the conventional “West” it passed almost unnoticed, but in Russia the joy is unique. Pictures from Oscars, photos of young actors on the stage in Los Angeles, handing statuettes – all this is an ideal propaganda material that Hollywood has just handed Moscow. It does not matter for the Kremlin whether the Russians were presented in “Anor” positively (and they did not remain). In this case, it is not important, as they say, they say – and everyone says, because it is difficult not to mention who stands next to Sean Baker on the stage. But nothing happened.

Jurij Borisow – Igor – never condemned the Kremlin’s actions, he also willingly appears in state propaganda productions. The situation is similar in the case of a 10 -year -old Marek Ejdelsztejn, playing in “Anor” Ivan. Nothing happened.

Hollywood, which for decades indicates what is good and what is bad, wants to be a moral compass for the world – with silence at the gala and the lack of even symbolic support loses the right to moralize. Because it’s not like nothing is happening.
