Photovoltaics is a technology that has gained immense popularity in recent years. It allows you to produce your own electricity, reduce bills and become independent of rising energy prices. Sounds perfect? In theory yes, but in practice it can be different. A pair of bloggers found out about it when a request for payment appeared in their inbox, which literally knocked them off their feet. And all because they didn’t check the application on the phone on an ongoing basis.
Why do I have high electricity bills at photovoltaics? Bloggers described their history
Even in 2024, Monika and Mariusz enjoyed low bills, because they paid less than PLN 300 for electricity once every six months. The photovoltaic seemed to be a bull’s -eye, which allowed a lot to save on energy. Everything changed when, after returning from a short trip, they looked into the mailbox. The letter from the supplier caused a considerable shock to them. The bill was PLN 5,000. – There is no mistake in the amount of zeros – they wrote in a Facebook post, trying to understand how it is possible. They began to analyze the situation. Maybe the son accidentally turned on the heaters in the radiators? Maybe it’s a settlement error?
They reviewed the invoice and quickly noticed that their installation produced much less energy than it should. In the application monitoring, the panels discovered the cause – from July to December, production fell by a third. The culprit turned out to be a burned fuse through which one of the “strings” stopped working. It was enough to replace it for the system to return to full fitness. “We stopped checking the application regularly,” they admitted. For half a year, the panels only operated partly, and they did not notice it. Now they warn other solar users that there is a lot of control. Although your own energy production is a great way to save, you must remember that even the best technology requires a little attention.
Is photovoltaics pay off? 2025 brings increases in electricity prices, so it’s worth considering
Photovoltaics in 2025 still pays off, both for households and enterprises. According to Trisolar.pl, rising electricity prices mean that your own energy production is not only a way to save, but also for greater independence. Modern panels reach the efficiency of over 22 percent, and the installation costs are gradually falling, which makes this technology more and more available. Thanks to support programs, such as “My current 6.0”, you can get up to 28 thousand. PLN funding, which significantly reduces the time of return on investment.
What about the new net-biilling system? Although it differs from previous settlement rules, it still allows for effective management of excess energy, which is of particular importance at rising current prices. Photovoltaics can be a great investment, but we must remember about regular inspections. Installation monitoring and care for its efficiency is the key to maximum savings and avoiding unpleasant surprises.
