On April 8, 1994, it was discovered that Kurt Cobain had taken his own life. It was then that Dave Grohl, former drummer of Nirvana and founder of Foo Fighters, needed to disappear.

“I’m going to disappear. I’m going to go to the most remote place on earth“, he announced after the death of his partner. But what he didn’t know was that a coincidence would bring him back to music.

The drummer traveled to the Ring of Kerry, that place where Ireland is most Ireland. “So I was driving and on the side of the road I saw a boy hitchhiking“, he says. The encounter with Lorcan, the boy wearing the Kurt Cobain t-shirt, led to the birth of one of the most popular bands of the 21st century.

It was Kurt Cobain’s face staring at me in the middle of nowhere and I thought “you can’t escape this”“So I gotta go home and get this fucking thing working,” Grohl explains. And that’s how he formed this band, Foo Fighters.

Lorcan had been telling his version of the story for years, but his friends never believed him. “When I approached the car I saw that Dave Grohl was inside,” the young man said, but his friends questioned his story as they didn’t know what the Nirvana drummer was doing “in the middle of nowhere.”

Now, thirty years later, they have discovered that he was telling the truth after the testimony of the founder of Foo Fighters, who has now admitted that a hitchhiker made it possible for him to return to music and found this group.
