The second season of “” was met with a much weaker reception than the first, both among viewers and critics. “We probably haven’t seen a series that would be so epically out of control since the final seasons of ‘Game of Thrones’ and ‘Vikings’,” wrote Natalia Nowecka from Eska.pl after the premiere of the last episode.
The second season of “The Dragon’s Blood” introduced the character of Sharako Lohar. The creators surprised the viewers
The criticisms of the series are varied. The prevailing opinion is that the production is simply boring and unengaging, and the changes to the source material are unjustified, which makes the story lose out. In turn, much less substantive comments once again referred to the modification of the identities of the characters known from George RR Martin’s books.
At the end of the second season of “Dragon’s Bloodline”, the character of Sharako Lohar was introduced to the series. In the original, it was an admiral who commanded a fleet of 90 warships during one of the bloodiest sea battles in Westeros. The hero’s army emerged victorious from the battles, although not without many casualties. Only 28 ships that took part in the clash returned home.
Ryan Condal Defends ‘Blood of the Dragon’ Decision: ‘It’s a Modern Interpretation of History’
In the series, Sharako Lohar played Abigail Thorn, who is best known for her channel Philosophy Tube. In 2021, Thorn came out as a transgender woman and made her acting debut in the series “Ladhood”, then starred in the series “Django” and “Acolyte” from the “Star Wars” universe.
Although there were voices that Sharako Lohar is one of the more colorful characters in the new episodes of “Dragon’s Kin”, some viewers focused on her gender identity. Fans of the series could not understand why the creators of the production decided to change it, and Lohar stopped being a man. The showrunner of the series Ryan Condal responded to the doubts during a press conference.
“From the very beginning, we wanted Sharako to be a woman. End of story. During the casting, we were lucky that Abigail Thorn showed up. We were all delighted with her performance,” the filmmaker is quoted as saying by WP.
The creators of “The Dragon’s Blood” wanted a slightly more up-to-date approach to the story created by the writer. “I think it’s a modern interpretation of the story. It’s another example of us interpreting the work of George R.R. Martin and looking at it through the prism of someone watching the TV series, through the prism of a modern audience,” Condal added.
