The National Institute of Performing Arts and Music (INAEM) and the director of the National Classical Theatre Company (CNTC), Luis Homarhave agreed that the latter will end his contract at the head of the company on December 31, 2024, since the Contracting procedures could be “improved”according to the institution dependent on the Ministry of Culture in a statement sent to Europa Press.
Thus, INAEM acknowledges that, after the publication of “certain information” that pointed to alleged irregular payments from the current director of CNTC, CCulture has carried out “some previous actions” in which the existence of complete documentation in the contracting files has been confirmed, issued by the competent bodies and inspected in accordance with the law, although they reiterate that there is room for improvement in the procedures.
The objective of the decision is to provide “greater legal certainty and transparency” to the artistic contracts of the National Classical Theatre Company, they explain.
The INAEM advances that will call for the selection process in the near future for the company’s management and will announce the deadline for submitting applications in the near future.
In the selection process, which will be governed by the provisions of Order CUL/3355/2010, of December 21, which includes the Statute of the CNTC, the following will be assessed: merits of the applications submitted in accordance with the purposes, principles and objectives established in said Statute.
Recognizes the quality of the project
On the other hand, the INAEM assures that recognizes “the quality of the artistic project” Led by Lluís Homar and his team during this stage, “a project that has offered a contemporary reading of Spanish classical theatre, as well as various relationships and dialogues with international classical theatre.”
In this regard, he adds that “the projection and quality of the CNTC have been recognized by a loyal and diverse public, by theater critics and by repeated national and international invitations to tours and co-productions.”
