The famous British street artist known as Banksy confirmed on Wednesday the authorship of a new work of art in an east London neighborhood, the third creation he has revealed in three consecutive days, all of them starring animals.

Through a post on Instagram, the artist uploaded a photograph of his most recent painting, where the silhouette of three monkeys appears hanging from a small ledge in the Shoreditch High Street tube station bridgeand about a vintage shop and a cafe.

This new announcement comes after the graffiti artist, whose identity is unknown, revealed on Tuesday a piece made up of Two elephants poking their heads out and looking at each other each other through two boarded-up windows in a building in London’s Chelsea.

It is the third work that Banksy presents in this “animal” trilogy which began this Monday in the Kew Green neighborhood, in Richmond, also southwest of the British capital, starring a goat on top of a ledge from which several rocks fall while a real surveillance camera points at it.

Banksy’s modus operandi is always the same: upload a photograph to confirm that he is the author of the painting, And the rest is left to the imagination of his more than 12 million followers, who are already speculating about whether these three creations are part of a series of “animal” art and whether more will follow in the coming hours and days.

Regarding this latest piece by the Bristol-based artist (southwest England), some on social media have suggested that it is a representation of the three wise Japanese monkeys and their famous proverb. “see no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil”although this time they do not appear covering their eyes, ears or mouth.

On the painting of the two elephantsis believed to be inspired by the metaphorical expression of “elephant in the room”which refers to an obvious truth that is ignored or goes unnoticed. As for the mountain goat, the first of the works, some consider that it could represent that the human race is on the verge of extinction or indicate the lack of privacy in public spaces, by placing a closed-circuit camera.

Banksy is known for claiming social, political and environmental problems through his street art in various parts of the world; and his works are highly sought after, reaching tens of millions of euros at auctions.
