On July 9, the media reported the death of Jerzy Stuhr. The 77-year-old actor struggled with health problems and cancer, but was still professionally active. He performed on the stage and wrote a book titled “Z bieg dni. Pamiętnik przeszłości roku”. The book was described on the publisher’s website as: “Jerzy Stuhr’s last monologue – farewell to the stage and the world”.
Jerzy Stuhr wrote a book before his death
The actor began working on the book after a collision he caused while driving under the influence of alcohol in 2022. Jerzy Stuhr described the event and its consequences in detail in the book. “It’s a mistake. You have to be punished for that. So I started to perceive the world by walking it. And this diary will be from the perspective of a walker. A little slower and with a little out of breath” – reads one of the fragments published by “Fakt”, in which the actor mentions losing his driving license.
The collision also left its mark on Jerzy Stuhr’s career and his relationships with his loved ones. “I noticed that after the aforementioned road accident, there was a void around me. Meetings were canceled. One of the awards that I had once been given was immediately taken away from me,” the actor confessed in his notes. According to the announcement by Wydawnictwo Literackie, Jerzy Stuhr’s last book will go on sale on Wednesday, August 7.
Jerzy Stuhr’s health problems
In the late 1980s, Jerzy Stuhr suffered a heart attack, and in 2011, doctors diagnosed him with esophageal cancer. During long-term treatment, he continued his acting career and still occasionally appeared on screen. Five years later, he was hospitalized after another heart attack, and in the summer of 2020, he was hospitalized after a stroke. Since then, his condition has steadily deteriorated.
