They were the most beloved duo on TV. Weren’t things rosy off camera? “He was difficult”

Janusz Rewiński and Krzysztof Piasecki formed a harmonious duo for many years and hosted such hit programs as “Ale plama” and “Szkoda gadać”. However, many were curious about their relationship off-screen. After the actor’s death, the satirist decided to reveal the whole truth about their acquaintance.

was one of the most popular actors in Poland. He had many roles in productions such as “Podróże Pana Kleksa”, “Zmiennicy”, “Pierścień i róża” and “Tygrysy Europy”. However, he owed his greatest recognition to the character of Stefan “Siara” Siarzewski in the cult Juliusz Machulski, and then in its next installment, “Kiler-ów 2-óch”. He also successfully fulfilled himself as a satirist. He appeared in cabarets and entertainment programs such as “Ale plama” and “Szkoda gadać”, in which he formed a duet with . How did they meet?

This was the first meeting of Rewiński and Piasecki. Their contact broke off for years

Their paths first crossed during , during which Piasecki performed as 1/2 of the duo “Brylantowe Spinki”, and Rewiński received the Golden Pin for his show. – Janusz approached us after our performance and informed my colleague not to “boil” when I was singing something funny. “Cooking” in our industry is something like making people laugh. And that was our first meeting – recalled the satirist, adding that although they had already found common ground, it was their first and last contact for several years. – Our fates diverged for a long time – he said. Everything changed when a few years later the satirical holiday program “Skauci Piwni” was created, which first turned into an association and later the Party of Friends of Piwa. It was then that their relationship grew closer and became more friendly.

They hosted cabaret shows together. Such was Rewiński’s private relationship with Piasecki.

Piasecki never hid the fact that working with Rewiński was not the easiest. – Well, he was difficult, as they say – he admitted openly. After he was thrown out of the party, he and he created the famous program “Ale plama”, which they hosted on TVN. After the end of cooperation with the station, there was no place for them on the air for a long time. It was only when PiS took power in Poland, introducing the so-called good change in TVP, that they began to host the famous “Szkoda gadać”. However, it was then that they realized that in terms of political views they were on completely different poles. – To such an extent that I even wanted to give up this program – recalled the cabaret artist.

Despite their irreconcilable differences, Piasecki valued his intelligence, wit, and tolerance. He admitted that he was a “difficult man,” which is why many of his collaborations either did not come to fruition or ended prematurely due to misunderstandings. “Generally, he was a very intelligent guy, very witty. We had the same level of humor, and that was brilliant,” he said, adding that everything they did together “came out perfectly.” Finally, he ventured to say that despite many adversities and difficulties encountered along the way, it was the best period of his professional career. “The years I worked with him were the best years of my career,” he concluded.
