Antennas, including satellite ones, are a sight we have become accustomed to in both cities and villages. Today, no one is surprised by this, although we have more options for accessing television than we did a few years ago. Their installation is relatively simple, so many people decide to do it themselves. Meanwhile, improperly attaching an antenna can result in fines.

Internal antennas are placed indoors, external ones require installation outside the window. Building regulations are quite restrictive in many cases, but not in this one. The good news is that you do not need a special building permit to install an external antenna, although in the case of installation on the facade or roof of a multi-family building, prior consent from the community or building manager is required. There is also bad news, however.

The regulations regarding the installation of an external antenna are specified in Article 29 of the Construction Law. According to it, the installation of any device exceeding 3 meters in height, although it does not require a building permit, should be reported to the architectural and construction administration body in the city or district. This also applies to antennas mounted on masts in situations where obtaining an appropriate signal is difficult, e.g. due to terrain or dense development.
Failure to report may result in an order to dismantle the antenna, but that’s not all. Such unauthorized construction is punishable by, or rather, a legalization fee of up to PLN 2,500.
