Because of this, Borys Szyc did not want to take his father’s surname. They reconciled only years later.
Jerzy Franciszek Michalak graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Kraków. He began his work as a stage designer in 1969 at the Tarnów Dramatic Theatre, where he was associated for 7 years. Later he became the director of the Pinokio Puppet Theatre in Łódź, and then held the same position at the Dramatic Theatre in Elbląg. In addition, he fulfilled himself by acting in , directing and creating visuals for over 100 plays. He spent the last years of his life in Biczyce near Nowy Sącz, where he ran his own theatre and painting studio.
Michalak was the father of Borys Szyc, but they did not maintain contact for years, as he left the family when his son was only 3 years old. For this reason, the actor decided to take his mother’s maiden name. As the weekly “Dobry Tydzień” managed to establish, the star of the series “Warszawianka” reconciled with his father at the urging of his beloved. – It is important to find a father, even if he is already an older man. I do it for myself. I need this contact to constitute myself – Szyc announced at the time.
