On January 24, 1995, at approximately 7:50 p.m., Ania Jałowiczor left school in Simoradz with a friend, where they had taken part in a carnival party. They covered part of the way back together, but then they went their separate ways. The girl had only 700 m to cover. Unfortunately, she never returned home. Shortly after 10 p.m., Ania’s grandmother notified the police, who immediately began a search. Areas as far away as 12 kilometers were combed, but there was no trace of the 10-year-old. At the same time, officers began questioning witnesses. There were reports of unknown men who had recently been driving around the area in a beige car.
Witnesses saw a light-colored car. A child’s scream was heard
Earlier, one of the residents decided to visit her neighbor. While they were both standing in front of her house, a light-colored car, most likely a Fiat 125p or Lada, sped past them. The woman soon set off on her way back. As she continued walking, she noticed a light-colored vehicle parked at a crossroads. She was almost certain that it was the same one that had sped past her during her visit to . When she was close, she heard a scream that could have been a child’s. After that sound, the car doors slammed shut and the driver drove off. She told the police what she had witnessed during questioning. It turns out that another resident had also seen the same vehicle.
Several hundred people were searching for Ani. In the meantime, another macabre discovery was made
The search for Ania was still ongoing. It was extended to Andrychów, approximately 60 km away, where the girl had previously lived. Around 400 people were involved in the case, search teams were brought in, and the officers could count on the help of the locals. A day after the girl’s abduction, a woman’s handbag was discovered near one of the ponds. It turned out that on January 23, a woman who had come to Simoradza to visit her brother had gone missing. Her body was found on January 31. The woman had drowned in the pond, most likely due to an unfortunate accident, because at the time of her death she was under the influence of alcohol. Her case was not connected to Ania’s disappearance. Nevertheless, some wondered how it was possible that in a quiet town, practically one day after another, two tragedies could have happened.
It’s been 29 years since Ania disappeared. It’s not known what happened to her.
During the investigation, it was revealed that a few days before the girl went missing, two men drove up to the school and were pushy towards other students. However, no one reported this. It was only when Ania did not return home that the parents realized that their daughters might have avoided a similar fate. Based on the children’s statements, portraits of the men were drawn up, but neither they nor the girl have been found to this day. The X-Files are investigating the case, and Ania’s brother organized a fundraiser, thanks to which he collected 100,000 złoty. He offers the money to someone who will reveal what may have happened to his sister. In 2023, an anonymous informant came forward, but his trail led nowhere. More than 29 years have passed since Ania went missing.
