Even a 5,000 PLN fine if you do it on the beach. Seaside fines can hurt

High temperatures encourage us to spend our holidays by the sea. Hordes of Poles have taken over the Baltic coastline to enjoy the hot sand, bathing in warm water and full sun. Do you know what you can’t do by the sea? Some behaviors can end with a hefty fine.

Many people who spend their holidays at the seaside do not consider the financial consequences of thoughtless acts. We constantly break the rules, e.g. taking photos while standing on the breakwater or swimming in the sea when the red flag is flying on the beach. In this way, we not only endanger our safety, but also reduce the budget for holiday attractions, because the action often ends with a fine. Check what behaviors are undesirable.

What is not allowed on the sea beach? The list of prohibitions is impressive

Each city beach has its own regulations that tourists should follow. If our behavior deviates from the established norms, the police or city guard can impose a fine on us and ask us to leave the bathing area. The amount of the fine depends on local regulations and the decision of the officer who catches us in the act. What can we be punished for?

  • It is forbidden to enter the breakwaters. This is a dangerous situation that threatens our lives and health. If we break this regulation, we face a fine of up to PLN 200.
  • See a red flag hanging out? Don’t go into the water. This means that the sea is rough and tragedy can easily happen. The fine for breaking the ban can be up to PLN 500.
  • Drinking alcohol and littering on the beach. These are offenses that have a similar penalty schedule. For each of them, you can pay 500 PLN.
  • Lighting a fire without permission. A bonfire on the beach is possible, but you must report to the maritime office in advance for a permit. If you make one without permission, you risk a fine of PLN 500. However, if the fire you started is deemed particularly dangerous and poses a fire hazard, the case may go to court and the fine will increase to PLN 5,000.
  • In addition you can’t camp on the beach without permission and walking dogs in places where there is absolute ban on bringing animals.
