TV Republika went too far with suggestions this time? KRRiT received complaints. “Unethical”

The National Broadcasting Council has received complaints about a program broadcast on TV Republika after the assassination attempt on Donald Trump. According to some viewers, the station overdid it.

On Saturday, a Republican election rally took place. It was during this event that 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks from Pennsylvania shot at Donald Trump. The US presidential candidate was wounded in the ear, one rally participant was killed, as well as the attacker himself, who was killed by a Secret Service agent.

TV Republika overdid it? Complaints were filed

In connection with the events, media around the world commented on the incident and analyzed its consequences. TV Republika also broadcast a special edition of its program. It was hosted by Michał Rachoń, who addressed the viewers with the words: “The photo was already symbolic then.” At that time, an archival photograph of Donald Tusk, which the Prime Minister shared in 2019, could be seen on the screen.

There would be nothing wrong with that, if not for the fact that Rachoń described the prime minister’s gesture as a “small pistol” aimed at Trump, who was then the president of the United States. The suggestions that TV Republika allowed themselves to make did not go down well with viewers. Journalist Beata Czuma asked on Twitter: “TV Republika knocked on the bottom from below. KRRiT, will there be any reaction or will it be ‘nothing happened’ again?”

As reported by the Wirtualne Media portal, the National Broadcasting Council has received complaints regarding the aforementioned edition. – Two complaints were received regarding a special edition of the TV Republika program, on July 14 this year, at approx. 08:40. The issue was the showing of an archival photo of Donald Tusk aiming at Donald Trump’s back. The accusation – unethical message, suggesting Prime Minister Tusk’s responsibility for the attack, distorting reality – informed Agnieszka Gniado from the Office of the Chairman of the National Broadcasting Council.
